“I View” is pulled from an original 2026 mixed-media painting by artist Jim Faris. A fragmented human figure emerges through layers of aggressive black-and-white brushwork, handwritten marks, symbolic imagery, and bursts of raw color.
The face is partially obscured and reconstructed through instinctive lines, scribbles, and recurring symbols — crowns, hearts, arrows, skulls, and marks that reflect themes of identity, vulnerability, awareness, and transformation.
Influenced by neo-expressionism, street art, and outsider visual language, the piece balances emotional chaos with moments of clarity and presence.
Originally created using acrylic paint, spray paint, oil stick, charcoal, and paint marker on canvas in Washington, D.C.
